The New Ulm Cathedral Greyhounds will head out on the road to face off against the St. Mary's Knights at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
New Ulm Cathedral posted their closest win yet this season on Tuesday. They beat Loyola by the very same score they won with last week: 48-46. New Ulm Cathedral's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
New Ulm Cathedral's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elliott Hoffman, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Blomberg, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 88-64 margin over Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win St. Mary's has posted against Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop since February 23, 2021.
New Ulm Cathedral's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for St. Mary's, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
New Ulm Cathedral came up short against St. Mary's in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 72-63. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of St. Mary's Will Walter, who scored 37 points.
