Basketball Game Preview: Patrick County Cougars vs. Carroll County Cavaliers

Patrick County is 0-3 against Carroll County since February of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Patrick County Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Carroll County Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m.

Patrick County is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 62-38 to Alleghany. While losing is never fun, Patrick County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while Alleghany is ranked 71st).

Meanwhile, Carroll County took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 84-55 victory over Floyd County. The Cavaliers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.

Patrick County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Carroll County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-1.

Patrick County might still be hurting after the 61-41 loss they got from Carroll County in their previous matchup back in January. Can Patrick County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
