Basketball Recap: Hononegah Makes It 15 in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Hononegah, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 62-55 victory over the Belvidere Bucs on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 72-70 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Belvidere lost, don't look at Emma Pierson. Despite the final result, she posted 23 points and seven steals. That was a full 41.8% of Belvidere's points, marking the third time in a row Pierson has scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Arianna Labeau, who went 8-for-18 en route to 19 points along with six boards and three steals.

Hononegah pushed their record up to 17-11 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Belvidere, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-11.

Hononegah wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-35 loss against Hersey on the 8th. As for Belvidere, they have also already played their next contest, a 57-54 defeat against Harlem on the 8th.
