Game recap: Archbishop Mitty High School Football Team wins against Valley Christian

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.) snapped the five-game winning streak of Valley Christian (San Jose, Calif.), with a 37-7 victory on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a Trent Scharrenberg touchdown pass to Dakari Monroe in the first quarter, the Monarchs were up 28-0 at the half.

A 21-point first quarter helped Archbishop Mitty secure the big victory. AM scored on a touchdown pass by Scharrenberg to Monroe, a Kyle Evans touchdown run and a defensive touchdown in the quarter.

Valley Christian's only touchdown came on a 71-yard run by Yusef Haddad in the third quarter.

The Monarchs had given up an average of 12.3 points prior to the contest. The seven points that the Warriors ended with were well below their average of 24.8 coming into the game. Valley Christian came in allowing just 13.8 points per game this season. VC struggled against Archbishop Mitty's offense, which entered the game scoring 22.5 points per game.



A 49-42 Archbishop Mitty victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

The defeat comes as a step back for Valley Christian, who notched a 26-7 victory over Terra Nova in its previous outing.
