Volleyball Recap: Montezuma-Cortez Wins Going Away Against Mancos

Montezuma-Cortez not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since August 22nd (when they won 3-0). They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Mancos Bluejays. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Bluejays walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Montezuma-Cortez was especially dominant in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-18, 25-13.

TessaMercedes Jackson paced Montezuma-Cortez's offense, picking up 12 kills. Jackson got some help from Kescoleigh Boeckman and her 23 assists. Hayden Matthias controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

The win made it two in a row for Montezuma-Cortez and bumps their season record up to 8-5. As for Mancos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.

Montezuma-Cortez has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Cedaredge on the 20th. As for Mancos, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Nucla on the 20th.
