Softball Recap: Snook Bluejays vs. Somerville Yeguas
Snook had taken Somerville down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Bluejays fell just short of the Yeguas by a score of 6-5. The Bluejays just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.
Aubrey Becker was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off two hits. Becker was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three triples, three RBI, and one run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Marissa Batiste made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Snook's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14-1. As for Somerville, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-12.
Coming up, Snook will head out to challenge North Zulch at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.7 runs per game on average), something the Bluejays will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Somerville, they will welcome Mumford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Yeguas' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
