Basketball Recap: Burrell Takes a Loss

Burrell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Sunday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 47-40 to the Armstrong River Hawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bucs of the 45-38 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2021.

Armstrong's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacob Szep led the charge by going 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Chase Jablonski was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Burrell's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Armstrong, the victory snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 5-11 record.

Burrell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-39 loss against North Catholic on the 28th. Armstrong has also already played their next matchup, a 51-41 defeat against Kiski Area on the 28th.
