Soccer Game Preview: Amarillo vs. Lubbock

The Amarillo Sandies will take on the Lubbock Westerners at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Amarillo has eight straight wins, Lubbock has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Amarillo's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Caprock as they made off with a 4-0 victory. The result was nothing new for Amarillo, who have now won eight matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Lubbock fell victim to Monterey and their airtight defense on Thursday. They came up short against the Plainsmen, falling 6-0. That's two games in a row now that Lubbock have lost by exactly six goals.

Lubbock's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Amarillo, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.

Everything went Amarillo's way against Lubbock in their previous matchup back in February of 2025, as Amarillo made off with a 7-0 victory. Do the Sandies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Westerners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
