Baseball Recap: McCallie Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Soddy Daisy, McCallie was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Webb Spartans 4-2. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Tornado in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

Peyton McAllister spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. McCallie is 3-1 when McAllister allows one or fewer earned runs, but 9-17 otherwise.

On the hitting side, McCallie saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Noland, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Jake Copeland was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

McCallie's win bumped their record up to 12-18. As for Webb, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.

McCallie will have a chance to go back-to-back against Webb: the pair will be back at it again later today.
