Volleyball Recap: Dracut Middies vs. North Andover Scarlet Knights

Dracut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Andover Scarlet Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Middies of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Dracut was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made North Andover work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 21-25, 25-20, 25-21.

Logan Phousengthong paced Dracut's offense, picking up ten kills. Phousengthong got some help from Alexander Sophuok and his 21 assists. Remey Nhim controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

North Andover's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Soham Makkena, who had 12 assists and three digs. That's the most digs Makkena has posted over his last two contests.

Dracut's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for North Andover, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-8.

Coming up, Dracut will be playing at home against Greater Lawrence Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Andover, they are taking a road trip to face off against Lowell at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
