Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Loris). Everything went their way against the Waccamaw Warriors on Tuesday as they made off with a 13-3 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
Bellamie Gore made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Gore was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Haley Spence was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kenzie McCoy, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
Loris kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waccamaw only managed seven hits.
Loris now has a winning record of 11-10-1. As for Waccamaw, they dropped their record down to 5-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Coming up, Loris will head out to face off against Carolina Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
