Basketball Recap: Miami Valley Skates Past Cristo Rey with Ease

There's no place like home for Miami Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past the Cristo Rey Cougar, posting a 70-38 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Rams as it put an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Miami Valley had a senior duo take command as Noah Barnard dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten boards and Thomas Cook dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten assists. The dominant performance gave Cook a new career-high in assists. Ajitpal Gill was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Miami Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Miami Valley's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Cristo Rey, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Miami Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-50 win against Spring Valley Academy on the 10th. As for Cristo Rey, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-22 loss against Liberty Union on the 9th.
