Basketball Recap: Liberty Snaps 14-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Liberty had lost three straight headed into Saturday's match, but Ayden Padgett didn't let it get to four. The Liberty Minutemen walked away with a 68-58 win over the Patrick County Cougars on Saturday thanks in part to Padgett, who went 12 of 23 on his way to 31 points along with seven boards and five assists. His afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Overstreet, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Liberty's victory ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for Patrick County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Liberty will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Jefferson Forest at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. As for Patrick County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 74-62 win against North Stokes on the 3rd.
