High school girls basketball rankings: Etiwanda finishes No. 1, crowned MaxPreps National Champion

Eagles finish season 32-3 while grabbing second straight CIF Open Division state title.

Etiwanda capped a 32-3 season with a dominant 60-48 victory over Archbishop Mitty (San Jose) in California's Open Division state championship game, securing its second straight title. That helped the Eagles finish No. 1 in the final MaxPreps Top 25 and earn the distinction of being named MaxPreps National Champion.

In addition to the win over Mitty, Etiwanda beat No. 9 Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth) twice and perennial power Mater Dei (Santa Ana) in the postseason.

Under head coach Stan Delus, the Eagles left little doubt in the state final en route to becoming the first team to repeat as Open Division champion. Junior point guard Aliyahna "Puff" Morris led the way against Mitty with 20 points, USC commit Kennedy Smith added 15 and junior Grace Knox, Mykelle Richards, Arynn Finley and Shaena Brew made major contributions.

Etiwanda's resume includes wins over four state champions, three state runners-up and five teams ranked in the final MaxPreps Top 25. Following a loss to Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, N.Y.) in January, the Eagles won 16 straight games to finish the season.
