Soccer Recap: Mariemont Takes a Loss

If Mariemont was riding high fresh off their 7-0 takedown of Reading on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors fell just short of the Oakwood Lumberjacks by a score of 1-0 on Saturday. Mariemont were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Oakwood apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Mariemont's loss dropped their record down to 12-2-1. As for Oakwood, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-3-1.

Mariemont and Oakwood should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Warriors (ranked 47th) will meet Finneytown (ranked 383rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Oakwood will square off against Madison at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (91 vs. 517).
