Baseball Recap: Urbana Comes Up Short

Urbana dropped down to 5-17 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Normal Community Ironmen, falling 10-0. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Ironmen from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Normal Community, they pushed their record up to 22-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Considering they have won 17 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Normal Community's part, they got a great performance from Carter Reiners as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Reiners a new career-high.

At the plate, Jacob Engel was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last nine matchups. Carter Harris also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

While Urbana had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
