Basketball Recap: Keswick Christian Crusaders vs. Boca Ciega Pirates

In what's become a running theme this season, the Keswick Christian Crusaders gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Boca Ciega with a sharp 70-48 win. Given Keswick Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Pirates are ranked 352nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ava Graham was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Graham is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Robyn Cantwell, who scored 18 points along with three steals.

Despite the loss, Boca Ciega still got an impressive performance from Jacquavia Ferguson, who scored 32 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ferguson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was JaLainah Hunt, who scored ten points.

Keswick Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for Boca Ciega, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Keswick Christian will take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bradenton Christian will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Boca Ciega, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Packers at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Hopefully Largo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Monday.
