Baseball Recap: Sandia Prep Drops Highest Score of Season Against Bosque

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sandia Prep). They blew past the Bosque Bobcats 21-10 on Thursday. With that win, the Sundevils brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Matteo Herrera was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Lemons, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Sandia Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bosque only posted a batting average of .143.

Sandia Prep is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Bosque, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.

Coming up, Sandia Prep will look to defend their home field on Saturday against East Mountain at 11:00 a.m. The Timberwolves will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Sundevils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bosque, they will venture away from home to face off against Hozho Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wolves will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
