Softball Recap: Quincy Takes a Loss

Quincy extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-7 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Rock Island Rocks. The match marked the first time this year in which the Blue Devils were not able to get on the board.

As for Rock Island, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-4. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.5 runs across that stretch.

For Rock Island's part, Quincy's batters probably weren't too happy with Lilly McDaniel, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 15 Ks (she gave up two walks). McDaniel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

Quincy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-3 win against Seymour on the 21st. As for Rock Island, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Metamora on the 19th.
