Basketball Game Preview: Ron Brown Monarchs vs. Cardozo Clerks

Ron Brown is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Bell 77-51 on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Monarchs with their most commanding win of the season.

Ron Brown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lenoxx Walker, who went 10 for 22 on his way to 29 points in addition to six assists and six steals. With that strong performance, Walker is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Derrick Harley, who went 8 of 19 en route to 22 points along with seven assists and five steals.

Ron Brown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Cardozo beat Our Lady of Good Counsel 68-59 on Sunday. Given the Clerks' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked first in District of Columbia, while the Falcons are ranked 35th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ron Brown is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Cardozo, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.

Ron Brown was dealt a bruising 81-38 defeat at the hands of Cardozo in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Ron Brown was down 47-19.
