Basketball Game Preview: Brooks Eagles vs. Payton College Prep Grizzlies

The Brooks Eagles will square off against the Payton College Prep Grizzlies at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Brooks was able to grind out a solid victory over Kennedy, taking the game 55-46. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Crusaders are ranked 665th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Payton College Prep hadn't done well against North Lawndale recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Everything went Payton College Prep's way against North Lawndale as Payton College Prep made off with a 52-32 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Grizzlies.

Payton College Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.1 points per game. As for Brooks, their record is now 10-6.
