Preview: Basis Yeti vs. Red Mesa Redskins
Basis is 0-3 against Red Mesa since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Basis Yeti will head out on the road to challenge the Red Mesa Redskins at 5:30 p.m. Red Mesa took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Basis, who comes in off a win.
Basis had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 34-22 win over Bagdad last Tuesday. The win was just what Basis needed coming off of a 60-32 defeat in their prior matchup.
Emily Mullaney continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Avery Paris, who scored no points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Red Mesa's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 39-30 to St. Michael.
Basis' win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10. As for Red Mesa, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
Basis took a serious blow against Red Mesa when the teams last played last Saturday, falling 60-32. Can Basis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
