Basketball Game Preview: Putnam City West Patriots vs. Bixby Spartans

The Putnam City West Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Bixby Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Putnam City West was beaten by Union 83-16. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 409th, while the Redhawks are ranked 36th).

Meanwhile, Bixby came tearing into Friday's matchup with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 59-50 victory over the Jaguars.

Bixby's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Putnam City West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-15.

Putnam City West took a serious blow against Bixby in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 93-3. Can Putnam City West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
