Basketball Recap: Wingate Falls to West Las Vegas in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Wingate unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 64-50 to the West Las Vegas Dons. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Dons: they've now lost five in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Wingate lost, don't look at Zefferino Flores. Despite the final result, he posted 21 points.

West Las Vegas' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Javid Cordova, who shot 54% from the field on his way to 16 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Cordova a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andres Sena, who went 5-for-10 en route to 16 points and five rebounds.

Wingate didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-43 win against Whitehorse on the 4th. As for West Las Vegas, they have also already played their next matchup, a 67-55 defeat against Sandia Prep on the 9th.
