Softball Recap: Granville Wins Going Away Against Warrensburg

Granville won the last time they faced Warrensburg and things went their way on Monday too. The Golden Horde blew past the Burgers 18-2.

Lillian Baker made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joysie Velez, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Cecil Velez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

The victory got Granville back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granville will take on Whitehall at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Warrensburg, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Johnsburg Central at 4:30 p.m. on the 21st.
