Baseball Game Preview: Leeds Greenwave vs. Springville Tigers

Leeds hasn't had much luck against Springville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Leeds Greenwave will challenge the Springville Tigers at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Leeds 3.8, Springville 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Last Saturday, Leeds came up short against Oak Grove and fell 7-2.

Meanwhile, Springville entered their tilt with St. Clair County on Friday with four consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Fighting Saints a 3-0 shutout.

Springville got a great performance from Carter Samuelson as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Samuelson a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Springville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Jones, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Jacob Bailey also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Springville's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Leeds, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
