Baseball Recap: Serra Snags Ninth Victory in Last 12 Games

Serra never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Van Nuys on Saturday. They blew past the Wolves 13-2. Considering the Cavaliers have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

CJ HUGHES and MARC EMMERMAN did most of the damage at the plate: HUGHES went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple, while EMMERMAN went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs EMMERMAN has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was AMARI HACKETT, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Serra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Serra is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Van Nuys, they dropped their record down to 11-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Serra wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 9-4 win against St. Paul on the 29th. As for Van Nuys, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-1 victory against Grant on the 30th.
