Basketball Recap: Cross Lanes Christian Warriors vs. Calvary Baptist Academy Patriots
After flying high against Ohio Valley Christian on Thursday, the Cross Lanes Christian Warriors came back down to earth. Cross Lanes Christian fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 60-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (56), Cross Lanes Christian still had to take the loss.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calvary Baptist Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew DeGroff, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. DeGroff has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Jacob Vaughn was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Cross Lanes Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Calvary Baptist Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13.
Cross Lanes Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Irish at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Charleston Catholic will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Calvary Baptist Academy, they will take on the Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Robert C. Byrd focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Wednesday.
