Softball Recap: Pottsville Find Success

Pottsville's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Panther Valley Panthers by a score of 7-2.

Peyton Eckert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Reese Ketner was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jo Barnhart, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Pottsville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Pottsville now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Panther Valley, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 8-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pottsville will square off against Minersville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Battlin' Miners have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Panther Valley, they will face off against Our Lady of Lourdes Regional at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
