Basketball Recap: Mt. Zion Falls Short of Bryan County in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mt. Zion can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 58-57 to the Bryan County Redskins. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Mt. Zion still got an impressive performance from Xavier Buckner, who went 8-for-15 en route to 23 points. Buckner's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Waters, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Mt. Zion's loss dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Bryan County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.

Mt. Zion does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bryan County, they have already played their next match, a 52-49 defeat against Greene County on the 26th.
