Soccer Recap: Vela Comes Up Short

Vela lost against McAllen back in March of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Vela Sabercats fell just short of the McAllen Bulldogs by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Sabercats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 91st).

This is the second loss in a row for Vela and nudges their season record down to 6-6. As for McAllen, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2-1 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Sharyland the next time they take the pitch. Vela will host Sharyland at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while McAllen will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on February 18th.
