Soccer Game Preview: Richmond vs. Lafayette Jefferson

Richmond hasn't had much luck against Lafayette Jefferson recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Red Devils will square off against the Bronchos at 11:00 a.m. One thing working in Richmond's favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last three matchups.

Richmond is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Providence Cristo Rey last Wednesday. Richmond's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Their offense was hitting Providence Cristo Rey from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Kashawn Ferris Craig led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Lafayette Jefferson and Faith Christian combined for nine shots on goal on Thursday, which explains the impressive five total goals scored. The Bronchos came up short against the Eagles, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Lafayette Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana soccer rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Faith Christian are ranked 32nd).

Richmond pushed their record up to 7-5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four matches. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they now have a losing record of 5-6-3.
