Baseball Recap: Brownsburg Wins Going Away Against Avon

Brownsburg came out on top against Avon on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Bulldogs took their contest against the Orioles 6-1. That five run margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Ethan Gladstein tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits.

On the hitting side, Ethan Cougill and Canyon Koonce did most of the damage at the plate: Cougill went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Koonce got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Cougill has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Daniel Phillips, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Brownsburg's record is now 8-4. As for Avon, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brownsburg will challenge Decatur Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Avon, they will face off against Carmel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Greyhounds' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Orioles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
