Baseball Game Preview: Lumberton Pirates vs. West Bladen Knights

The Lumberton Pirates will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the West Bladen Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Lumberton is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They fell just short of Pine Forest by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Caiden Hall was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

Hall wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Shaun Henderson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, West Bladen took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They skirted past Hoggard 9-8.
