Recap: Colonia Patriots vs. Elizabeth Minutemen
It was a good run, but the Colonia Patriots unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Sunday. They fell just short of Elizabeth by a score of 59-56. While losing is never fun, Colonia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Elizabeth is ranked ninth).
London Carson was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with eight rebounds and two steals for Elizabeth. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cameron Mcrae, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Colonia's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Elizabeth, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colonia will square off against St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Elizabeth, they will head out on the road to face off against Westfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
