Softball Recap: Armstrong Comes Up Short

Armstrong fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Pine-Richland on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 10-9. That's two games in a row now that the River Hawks have lost by just one run.

Lily Gutherie made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daria Stross, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Armstrong and nudges their season record down to 11-8. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Pine-Richland, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-6.

Armstrong does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pine-Richland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chartiers Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
