Softball Recap: Rockford Auburn Comes Up Short

If Rockford Auburn was feeling good fresh off their 10-3 takedown of Freeport on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights lost 21-4 to the Winnebago Indians on Saturday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ava Johnson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. KayKay Hudson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Rockford Auburn's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Winnebago, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rockford Auburn beat the Indians by a score of 12-2 later that day.
