Softball Recap: Nine Straight Home Victories for West Vigo

West Vigo had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Linton-Stockton Miners a 5-0 shutout. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered an 8-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jaleigh Lindley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Rodgers, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

West Vigo pushed their record up to 20-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Linton-Stockton, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-10.

Looking ahead, West Vigo will challenge Northview at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Linton-Stockton, they are taking a road trip to challenge North Knox at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
