Recap: St. Pius X Catholic Golden Lions vs. Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the St. Pius X Catholic Golden Lions can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Thomas County Central on Friday, falling 49-0. While losing is never fun, St. Pius X Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Thomas County Central is ranked fourth).
Trey Brenton was his usual excellent self, rushing for 118 yards on only 13 carries. Malachi Thomas did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 83 receiving yards.
St. Pius X Catholic are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-1 Marist (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67% over those games). As for Thomas County Central, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
St. Pius X Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Thomas County Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Jonesboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jonesboro is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
