Volleyball Recap: South Cobb Extends Winning Streak to Three

South Cobb had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Langston Hughes Panthers. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 2-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

South Cobb had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-21, 15-13.

Samira Washington paced South Cobb's offense, picking up 12 kills. Washington got some help from Nikaiya Wilson and her 16 assists. Finally, Washington was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

South Cobb's win bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Langston Hughes, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-22 record this season.

South Cobb didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Paulding County on the 9th. As for Langston Hughes, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Northgate on the 9th.
