Football Game Preview: Eaton Reds vs. La Junta Tigers + How To Watch

The Eaton Reds are taking a road trip to face off against the La Junta Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eaton is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since September 27, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past Berthoud 13-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Reds.

Jackson Savona produced another solid performance rushing for 268 yards and one score while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Those 268 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Eaton's run defense was locked in: Berthoud could only muster 3.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Ben Lawhead for the heroic effort on defense: he. Eaton didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.2.

Eaton's defense didn't let Trae Anderson, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when La Junta duked it out with Woodland Park on Friday. The Tigers really took it to the Panthers for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-6 victory. Considering the Tigers have won six contests by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Eaton's record is now 6-3. As for La Junta, their record now sits at 7-2.

Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Eaton has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 181.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like La Junta struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 149 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Eaton took a serious blow against La Junta in their previous matchup back in November of 2017, falling 42-0. Thankfully for the Reds, Jon Nuschy (who rushed for 178 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 41 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
