Baseball Game Preview: Irvine Vaqueros vs. Sage Hill Lightning

For the second straight game, Irvine will face off against Sage Hill. The Vaqueros will be playing at home against the Lightning at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Irvine's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Sage Hill has been banged up by 12 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Irvine fell victim to Sage Hill and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Lightning by a score of 1-0.

For Sage Hill's part, the result came thanks to Jad Rigley's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. Rigley also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Lightning are 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Sage Hill's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Justin Glasser, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Sage Hill hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Irvine's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Sage Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.
