Recap: Minersville Battlin' Miners vs. Nativity BVM Green Wave
With a playoff game on the line, the Minersville Battlin' Miners rose to the challenge on Friday. They managed a 19-13 win over Nativity BVM. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but Minersville was the better team in the second half.
Minersville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Stevenosky out in front who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown. Stevenosky is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Dante Carr was another key contributor, rushing for 91 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Nativity BVM's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nolan Ferhat, who gained 75 total yards and a touchdown.
Minersville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. As for Nativity BVM, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.
Minersville will take on Marian Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nativity BVM does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
