Softball Game Preview: Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats vs. Port Aransas Marlins

Skidmore-Tynan and Port Aransas are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. Skidmore-Tynan will welcome Port Aransas at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Skidmore-Tynan took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 victory over Agua Dulce. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bobcats have posted since March 26, 2024.

Meanwhile, Port Aransas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 19-18 heartbreaker at the hands of Refugio. Even if the Marlins couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Skidmore-Tynan's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Port Aransas, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Everything went Skidmore-Tynan's way against Port Aransas in their previous meeting on March 4th, as Skidmore-Tynan made off with a 16-0 win. Does Skidmore-Tynan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Port Aransas turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
