Preview: Troy Trojans vs. Hughesville Spartans

After two games on the road, Troy is heading back home. They will take on The Hughesville Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Troy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully Hughesville likes a good challenge.

Troy put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Canton 52-0 on the road. Given Troy's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Canton is ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Troy found their leader in underclassman Brendan Gilliland, who rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown. Gilliland's longest rush was for an incredible 91 yards. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Chimics, who picked up 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Hughesville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Muncy 28-22.

Defeat or not, Hughesville got some senior leadership from Tyler Wetzel who threw for 265 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt and Aiden Barlett who picked up 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Troy's victory was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 10-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36.2 points. As for Hughesville, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
