Soccer Recap: Academy of the New Church Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Academy of the New Church was not quite Devon Prep's equal in the second half on Friday. They lost 3-0 to the Tide. While losing is never fun, Academy of the New Church can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Devon Prep are ranked 156th).

This is the second loss in a row for Academy of the New Church and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Devon Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4-1 record this season.

Academy of the New Church will head out on the road to face off against Abington Friends at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Devon Prep, they will look to defend their home pitch on Tuesday against Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic at 3:45 p.m. Devon Prep will be up against Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic's rather soft defense (which has allowed 10.67 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
