Softball Preview: Van Buren Black Knights vs. Mohawk Warriors

The Van Buren Black Knights will play host again on Thursday to welcome the Mohawk Warriors, where first pitch is scheduled at 5:00 p.m.

Van Buren is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs last Monday, they were much more limited against Liberty-Benton on Monday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 4-2.

Meanwhile, Mohawk stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Wynford a 22-0 shutout. Mohawk's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Emily Brickner and Aubrey Gottfried were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Brickner pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Gottfried tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brickner has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.
