Basketball Recap: Huey Blalock's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rabun County over Providence Christian Academy

Rabun County was the 56-49 winner over Providence Christian Academy when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Rabun County Wildcats fell to the Providence Christian Academy Storm 73-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (63), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

Rabun County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Huey Blalock, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine assists. The matchup was Blalock's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Hayes Free was another key player, going 9 of 12 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds.

Rabun County's defeat dropped their record down to 19-5. As for Providence Christian Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-6.

Rabun County will square off against Athens Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rabun County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 70.4 points per game this season. As for Providence Christian Academy, they will take on Banks County at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Banks County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.
