Basketball Recap: Vail Mountain Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kaleb Gibbs and Will Kuti + How To Watch

Vail Mountain was the 55-39 winner over Cedaredge when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Rangers came up short against the Bruins on Saturday, falling 53-27. The Rangers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Vail Mountain's loss came despite strong showings from Will Kuti and Kaleb Gibbs. Kuti posted seven points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Gibbs scored five points.

Cedaredge was led to victory by Levi Maxey and Zach Mannon. Maxey shot 55% from the field en route to 14 points and seven steals, while Mannon had 17 points and five boards. Those 55% field goal percentage gave Maxey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Blair, who put up two points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists.

Vail Mountain now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Cedaredge, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Vail Mountain will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Vail Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2026. As for Cedaredge, they are taking a road trip to take on Ridgway at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
