Hiwassee Dam hasn't had much luck against Fannin County recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will look to defend their home court against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Hiwassee Dam and Andrews had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Wildcats since Thursday.
Hiwassee Dam took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-20, 25-27, 25-16, 15-9.
Meanwhile, Fannin County came into Thursday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Chestatee on Thursday.
Fannin County not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Chestatee between 17 and 18 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-17.
Fannin County found their leader in sophomore Amberly Patterson, who had 14 digs and two aces. Those 14 digs set a new season-high mark for Patterson.
Fannin County was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last five contests.
Hiwassee Dam's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Fannin County, they now have a winning record of 17-16.
